22 Weeks

Favorite activity: Bouncing in the Jumperoo from Grady
Favorite food: breast milk, but she's starting to taste other things, too!
Favorite spot: Cuddled with mama
Naughtiest moment: While eating, twisting her head with nipple still FIRMLY attached in her mouth!
Important milestones: Able to transfer objects from right hand to left hand
How Mom's Feeling: Really good. I've really jumped into this Baby Led Weaning and I have to say it makes so much sense! Lorelei wasn't much of a fan of the applesauce when I shoved it in her mouth, but that was probably because she wasn't in control of it. Imagine having someone shove some new substance into your mouth, you'd spit it back out too! So every day, at least once a day, usually twice, I stick her in the high chair, bring my meal out to the table and give her one of her spoons, forks and a piece of food. She can choose which one she wants to play with. She likes the spoons, likes the forks (and is learning that the pokey parts hurt when they poke her lip or tongue!) and has tasted and played with a variety of foods (cooked and raw green beans, avocado, baby spinach, boiled red potato, raw green onion). So far, she seems to like the cooked green beans and raw green onion the best! It's so much fun to watch her practice picking up the food and utensils and figure out how to stick them in her mouth. In fact, we noticed yesterday that she was passing the utensils from hand to hand!

Another side benefit of having Lorelei join us for meals is that I have to have dinner ready a lot earlier. Like at 6:30! Anyone who knows us can understand what an event THAT is! Normally, we don't eat dinner until 9 pm! I suddenly have time in the evenings now!

I also have this week off, so Lorelei has been having lots of mommy time!

21 Weeks

Favorite activity: Nomming on her fingers or her teething ring
Favorite food: breast milk
Favorite spot: Cuddled with mama
Naughtiest moment: Splashing in the bathtub
Important milestones: First time sitting in her high chair. First experience with solid food.
How Mom's Feeling: Excellent. We've had a very busy week! A visit from Gramama Chris, a trip to the pool, a visit to Folsom for a birthday party for our pal Grady, hiking and wine tasting for Father's Day and our first experiment with solid food!

Lorelei is growing and changing in leaps and bounds! She's *almost* able to sit up in her high chair (my old high chair, in fact!)! We tried out applesauce. Lorelei was...unsure...about the whole process. After doing a bit of research, I'm switching our feeding methods to baby led weaning, or BLW. After having a read a bit about it, I'm really liking the way it works. It's less work for us and makes more sense developmentally. Stay tuned for more progress!

Here are some pictures of our week:

20 Weeks

Favorite activity: Nomming on her fingers
Favorite food: breast milk
Favorite spot: Outside. Anywhere, just outside.
Naughtiest moment: Nothing. She is perfect!
Important milestones: Officially teething, first case of cradle cap...
How Mom's Feeling: Good. Kind of tired. Lorelei has officially started teething :/ Poor baby  just cries and cries. It's kind of bipolar, actually. She'll cry and cry until she sticks something in our mouth, be it her teething ring, her teething keys, a stuffed toy or her fingers (or my fingers, or Brian's fingers...) Then she's the happiest girl in the world.

This week, she's also discovered color, particularly reds, yellows and greens. She particularly loves a specific issue of PC World and most Eric Carle books...

Mostly though, I'm amazed at how our girl is growing and changing. And I'm amazed and grateful to have such a wonderful, happy and easygoing girl (even when she's teething)!

My mom is here visiting this week, so we have lots and lots of pictures, and even a video for you!
