Well, it's been a really DIY kind of Mother's Day around here. It started Saturday with lunch at Martin's West, my very super favorite restaurant. I had (because it was awesome, and must be saved for posterity) scotch eggs (only the yummiest treat ever!), a fried oyster and green tomato sandwich with tonnato sauce, tandoori fries, butterscotch custard and an apricot-ginger cocktail. Then we popped into the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store (found the perfect bedroom set for Mel and Travis, if only the bed had been bigger) and the Home Consignment Store and came home with a couch and a loveseat for the media room! Yay! No more sitting on blankets or outside furniture!
Then on Sunday, Brian made breakfast. Ok, I made breakfast the night before with instructions on how to bake it! Then I started repainting our kitchen cart and footstool (FYI, a hair dryer is awesome at removing old contact paper). After Lorelei's nap, we went for a hike at Fort Funston dog park. The dog's and the baby were thrilled! Once we got home, it was more furniture painting and hanging out. And on the menu for dinner: Spicy chicken shawarma flatbreads with quinoa salad!
