Weight: 9 pounds
Height: 22 inches
Favorite activity: Riding in the car or hanging out on her play gym
Favorite food: breast milk
Favorite spot: Swinging away on her swing
Naughtiest moment: Doing an exorcist-worthy spit up on mom then giving her a great big smile!
Important milestones: First "social smile" (meaning she smiled when it wasn't gas!) Continued success sleeping on her own. Instituting new bed time and bedtime routine.
How Mom's Feeling: I'm...ok. I've been feeling a little hormonal this week. Lorelei is six weeks old today, which means I've only got six weeks left with her. I'll be happy to go back to work, but I can't imagine not being home with her either. I wish we could afford to have me stay home longer, but c'est la vie. She's been a bit fussier this week, which I gather is normal. Lots of spit up!
I've also been reading a book that was recommended to me: "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". It describes how as she gets older, Lorelei will be needing an earlier and earlier bedtime, and will have more established naps during the day. By about 4 months old, she will need to be put down to bed around 6-7 pm and will be down for the night. This really bummed me out because I don't get home from work until 6:30 at the very earliest, which means I will have very little time to be with her in the evening. If she needs to be in bed before then, that means I will miss bedtime completely! This all makes me think of the milestones I will be missing when I am at work. I know that this is what all working parents go through, but it's hard. I know I will have the mornings to be with her, but I'm not happy about it.
As usual, some pictures of our week:
